Beyond walls: How retailers can bring back the magic of shopping

People have enjoyed the multisensory activity known as shopping for decades. It’s up to physical stores to keep that alive. But having four walls and well stocked shelves is hardly the name of the game anymore. More than ever, retailers dedicated to pleasing their customers via all channels must give their stores the attention they’re due. And, shopping centers should be community hubs, social gathering points, and entertainment complexes that also happen to have an assortment of awesome retail. “We don’t need more retail; we need better retail. We don’t need more malls, we need special places that communities value and gather in,” says retail Futurist Doug Stephens.
